Speech-Language Pathology Team

At University of Michigan Health, Michigan Medicine, our certified Speech-Language Pathologists have one central goal: to work closely with patients and families to improve quality of life through enhanced communication and swallowing skills.

Adult Dysphagia

Dysphagia means difficulty swallowing food or liquids. There are many causes, including problems in the coordination or strength of the swallowing muscles, inflammatory conditions, benign narrowings of the esophagus called strictures, and cancers. Our dedicated staff members who have broad experience in diagnosing and treating dysphagia, use comprehensive diagnostic testing and engage in robust clinical research programs.Ìý
